Rivers: “We’ve had to shed some fans so that we can stay vital.”

In an interview with BBC, Rivers Cuomo dropped quite a bomb of a quote.

The older fans – their tastes get frozen in time and they’re not able to evolve with the band. We’ve found again and again through our career that we’ve had to shed some fans like a snake sheds its skin, just so that we can stay vital.

Rivers must be confused since the average Weezer fan discovered Blue and Pinkerton much later, yet still regard those albums as Weezer’s best.  And Say It Ain’t So to I’m Your Daddy is evolving?  Well, I’ll be damned.  Check out the rest of the interview here and join in on the forum discussion!
